In 2001, in Yaremcha city, an International
Environmental Conference was held with representatives from Ukraine,
Germany and Romania participating. The Conference made it possible
for the three bodies to collaborate with the same partners in oblast
and local authorities, the Carpathian National Park and public
organisations. The practical outcome of the conference was the
creation of the Carpathian Environmental Centre in Vorokhta, aimed
at improving the level of public involvement through educational and
eco-cultural activities as well as establishing in the region
alternative ways of generating power, with examples of model
facilities (in collaboration with Swiss environmentalists).
In three successive years, with local authority support,
environmental camps for Kalush schoolchildren were held, an
environmental expedition to the Manyava Botanical Reserve was
mounted, and collaboration was established with environmental
organisations in Ukraine and abroad (Poland and Slovakia).
In 2001-2002, the organisation carried out the "Rehabilitation
of the Small Rivers of Kalush" programme, aimed at undertaking
awareness-raising and providing legal training to the private sector
by volunteers. A model clean-up was carried out with the
participation of guests from Australia and Poland (representatives
of a movement entitled "Clean up the World!" "Eko-Gal-Ostwind"
is the co-ordinator of the movement in Ivano-Frankivska Oblast).
In 2003, within the framework of the "Save
