Ukrainian Rivers Network is a voluntary association of NGOs, citizens and local communities.
Mission:
to promote improvement of ecological state of rivers and positive changes in environmental policy of Ukraine in the field of river conservation.
Membership:
105 NGOs and 4 persons are members of the URN.

All-Ukrainian workshop-training for teachers "Biodiversity Conservation, Econet Development and Integrated River Basin Management"

On 13-15 November 2007, the Wetlands International Black Sea Programme, the National Environmental and Naturalistic Centre of Young People and the Children Environmental Centre of Dniprodzerzhynsk will organize the All-Ukrainian workshop-training for teachers "Biodiversity Conservation, Econet Development and Integrated River Basin Management".

Training for NGO representatives "Biodiversity Conservation, Econet Development and Integrated River Basin Management"

On 28-29 of June 2007, the Wetlands International Black Sea Programme will organize training for NGO representatives "Biodiversity Conservation, Ecological Network Development and Integrated River Basin Management".

The Fifth Working Meeting of the Ukrainian Rivers Network will be held from 29 June till 1 July after finishing of the training.

Intersectoral Workshop "Dnipro Ecological Corridor: Modern State, Problems and Perspectives" was held on 2-3 April 2007 in Kyiv

On 2-3 April 2007, the Wetlands International Black Sea Programme with the financial support of BBI MATRA (The Netherlands) organized the intersectoral workshop ‘Dnipro Ecological Corridor: Modern State, Problems and Perspectives’. Participants of the workshop included representatives of the State Water Committee of Ukraine, State Environmental Departments in Chernihiv, Poltava, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhya, Mykolaiv and Kherson Oblasts, Cherkasy City Executive Committee, UNDP-GEF Program on Dnipro Environmental Rehabilitation, scientists, postgraduates and students of leading universities and research institutes from Kyiv, Kherson, Kremenchug, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Poltava, Kharkiv, Melitopol, representatives of NGOs and student centers, staff of nature reserves.

Presentation of results of the project "Public participation in conservation and sustainable use of small rivers in Ukraine; support for the River Network in Ukraine"

In February 2005, the Wetlands International Black Sea Programme completed a project entitled "Public Participation in the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Small Rivers in Ukraine; Support for the River Network in Ukraine". A detailed description of the results of the "Save Your River" Small Grants Programme, which formed part of the project, can be found on the "URN Activities" and "Publications" (the Ukrainian-English publication, "Save Your River") web-pages. On the "Publications" web-page you will also find "Public Participation in the Conservation of Small Rivers: A Training Manual". In connection with national activities to celebrate "Environment Day – 2005", a presentation of the project results will be made at the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Ukraine on 19 April 2005.

30 September – 1 October 2004 – The presentation of the “Save your River” Small Grants Programme

The presentation of the "Save your River" Small Grants Programme was held by Wetlands International Black Sea Programme on 30 September - 1 October 2004 in Kyiv. The Small Grants Programme was implemented in 2003-2004 with the support of the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality. Registered organisations - members of the Ukrainian Rivers Network (all-Ukrainian association of NGOs working on the conservation and rehabilitation of rivers) - were awarded grants.

12 – 18 July 2004 – Training Course for NGO Activists “Public Participation in the Conservation of Small Rivers”

The training course for NGO representatives entitled "Public Participation in the Conservation of Small Rivers" took place in Kyiv on 12-18 July 2004. It was organised by the Wetlands International Black Sea Programme and the Institute of Ecology (INECO) of the National Ecological Centre of Ukraine.

23–27 June 2004 – The Fourth Working Meeting of the Ukrainian Rivers Network

The Fourth Working Meeting the All-Ukrainian Association of NGOs working on river protection, the Ukrainian Rivers Network (URN), took place in Sevastopol city, Crimean Autonomous Republic, on 23–27 June 2004. It was organised by the “Dobry Svit” (Kind World) Environmental Nature Conservation Organisation and “Skyphya” Environmental Regional Club with the financial support of the Wetlands International Black Sea Programme and organisational support of the National Ecological Centre of Ukraine.

 

The website is created in the framework of the project "Small Rivers of Ukraine: Public Participation in their Conservation and Sustainable Use" by Wetlands International Black Sea Programme though a grant from the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Netherlands (MATRA Fund / Programme International Nature Management)
